Doctor Zhivago(1965) Costumes

Doctor Zhivago(1965) Costumes
The 1965 movie, Doctor Zhivago, is not only an exquisite drama but is also the 8th biggest grossing film of all time. The movie won 5 Oscars, including for Best Costume Design. In charge of the beautiful wardrobe was Phyllis Dalton who did a wonderful job.

“To be a woman is a great adventure; To drive men mad is a heroic thing.”

Julie Christie as Lara - 'Dr. Zhivago', 1965.

Julie Christie plays the part of Lara, a stunning woman, who manages to capture every man's attention. Her blonde hair and blue eyes were a delight to see and her wardrobe was just as beautiful. The white shirt with black tie is among one of my favorite outfits.

'Doctor Zhivago' (1965) with Julie Christie and Rod Steiger.

The red dress below was the most famous ensemble from the movie, but actress Julie Christie hated wearing it and she even refused to put it on.Finally, the production designer convinced her after saying how absolutely beautiful she looks in it.

"There are two kinds of men and only two. And that young man is one kind. He is high-minded. He is pure. He's the kind of man the world pretends to look up to, and in fact despises. He is the kind of man who breeds unhappiness, particularly in women. Do you understand?"

“I don't think I could love you so much if you had nothing to complain of and nothing to regret. I don't like people who have never fallen or stumbled. Their virtue is lifeless and of little value. Life hasn't revealed its beauty to them.”

Omar Shariff & Julie Christie "Doctor Zhivago" - How many times have I seen this movie?

“How wonderful to be alive, he thought. But why does it always hurt?”

The second female character,Tonya, is played by none other then Charlie Chaplin's daughter, Geraldine Chaplin.Although Julie Christie is also wearing fur coats and hats in the movie, Geraldine's fur ensembles are the best ones.

Dr. Zhivago...probably one of the 10 best movies of all time

“I don't like people who have never fallen or stumbled. Their virtue is lifeless and of little value. Life hasn't revealed its beauty to them.”

I still can't get over her pink and blue ensemble!

Embellishing Clothes

Embellishing Clothes
I have a passion for embellishing my clothes. My old clothes, to be more exact. It's just a shame to throw everything when you could always recreate them.Today i decorated a pair of ripped jeans bought about two years ago. It's not only a stylish idea, but it's cheap and it doesn't take too long to do it.

The skirt below was actually a dress, but i removed the top.I also applied the embellishments and made the belt from a black simple ribbon and added embellishments on it too.It almost looks like a ballerina's tutu.

And last, but not least, the embellished sweater! It was a little more expensive to decorate this one but the result was adorable and stylish.
